2008 MMRF - Race for Research
Hey!
Last weekend we participated in the 2008 MMRF Race for Research. This race is important to my family since one of my relatives was the first patient to test a new treatment and he has lived several years since. These events raise awareness and generate important funds.
“Multiple myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cell, is an incurable but treatable disease.” You can read more about Multiple myeloma on the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) website.
Here is a gallery of images from the race/walk this year. The event kicked-off with a few words from guest speakers Congressman Christopher Shays and basketball star Rebecca Lobo.
I was committed to walk instead of run to keep company with my friends and family. Most of my family ended up far ahead somehow.
The weather was beautiful but quite hot and there was only one water station along the course this year so many participants were thirsty. Also, the Police zooming around ordering everyone out of their way seemed an unusual display of control. All in all, it was a great event for a great cause and I enjoyed it as usual. I am glad I can breath in the air, smile and enjoy a Sunday walk.
