Today is Tax Day in America. It’s Uncle Sam’s favorite day! For Americans it’s like a reverse holiday, a day we all have a lot of preparing to get ready for but nobody is celebrating. Today is the day that our government gets the money to do all the things it likes to do.
I am not sure about you, but I would guess that you don’t have a lot to do with decisions made by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. I don’t have anything to do with the choices my government makes either. I can’t control how Americans behave when they visit your country. I can’t decide the price of our gasoline or if abortion will be legal or if smoking a cigarette should be permitted within 150′ of a public building. Even as a carpenter I have very few choices as to how things will be put together.
Each day I just live. You know; get up, make food, go to work, come home, use computer… go out with friends, etc. There are very few times that my day is interrupted by the news. Even then, it is just news. News, is like something you read or hear and then choose how it will affect you.
My point is that my opinion about whether we are bringing democracy to Iraq or whether Tibet “belongs” to China doesn’t matter. I go to work and pay my taxes which supports my country. It is my duty to my country to obey the laws, and pay the tax to live in this society. I can complain by writing letters to my Representatives in Government if I am motivated but basically it’s a place to live and a good one at that. Just look at our immigration statistics!
I do have issues with the choices of our establishment but there is nothing even they can do about it.
I don’t believe there is much control over our destiny at the liberal rate we are traveling!
Language is interesting. Now let’s talk about something really interesting –> Have you heard about the Mayan Calendar and how December 21st, 2012 that Calendar ends? The end of Time according to Mayan Civilization? Hahahh…. enjoy your day.
